Connecting global decision makers with Danish GovTech solutions

In 2024, Digital Hub Denmark hosted nearly 80 delegations from 37 countries, strengthening Denmark's connection to European and global markets. Delegations expressed interest in a range of topics including responsible AI, cybersecurity, and quantum security, with a notable focus on safeguarding children through age verification measures. MitID and digital identity also attracted great interest, reflecting its global relevance.

In 2025, the delegation services will expand to address topics with growing relevance and demand, such as quantum technology.

The inaugural Beyond GovTech

A major milestone of 2024 was the launch of Beyond GovTech, an event co-created with public and private stakeholders. The event explored themes such as responsible AI, digital inclusion, public-private partnerships, and digital solutions for the green transition.

As Denmark prepares for its EU Presidency in 2025, Beyond GovTech will serve as a platform for fostering international dialogue and positioning Denmark as a leader in citizen-centric digital transformation.

Expanding the GovTech Academy

The GovTech Academy continues to serve as a global platform showcasing Denmark's digital transformation. In 2024, a new course on the Smart Society model was introduced in collaboration with Copenhagen Fintech, offering insights into Denmark’s approach to financial innovation, trust and collaboration.

Launching the Digital Hub Denmark partnership programme

The launch of Digital Hub Denmark's partnership programme marks a new chapter of collaboration. Designed in consultation with stakeholders, the programme connects Danish and international partners to foster innovation and networking opportunities. Several partnerships have already been established, with more expected in the coming year.

In addition to these partnerships, Digital Hub Denmark signed its first international partnership with Social Alliance Innovation, an organisation fostering sustainable and digital societal development through Japanese-Danish collaboration.

Insights on Denmark's digital talent pool

Attracting and retaining top digital talent remains crucial for Denmark's competitiveness. Digital Hub Denmark continues its mission to position Denmark as a hub for digital talent by addressing critical challenges in talent attraction, retention, and gender diversity.

Our initiatives are aligned with the EU Commission's Digital Decade strategy, which aims to achieve 20 million ICT specialists and gender parity by 2030.

Digital Hub Denmark's 2024 annual talent report highlights a sharp decline in the net inflow of international talent. In 2023, approximately 2,400 digital talents arrived in Denmark, while more than 1,850 left the country. This resulted in a net inflow of only 550 professionals, a steep drop from nearly 1,200 in the previous year.

Digital Hub Denmark developed and published a comprehensive report examining the female digital talent pool in Denmark, revealing a measurable progress in growing its female talent pool over the past decade. Since 2011, the number of female digital talents in Denmark has grown from just under 35,000 to over 60,000 in 2023. However, the percentage of women in the digital talent pool has only increased marginally, from 28% in 2011 to 20% in 2023.

In 2025, Digital Hub Denmark will intensify efforts in talent retention, aiming to understanding and addressing the underlying causes of the decline in the net inflow of digital talents to maintain Denmark's competitiveness in innovation and growth.

Looking ahead to 2025

As Europe navigates geopolitical tensions and rapid technological advancements, digitalisation remains essential for driving European development. The year ahead holds significant potential to expand our impact, strengthen collaborations, and advance a resilient and inclusive digital society.

Digital Hub Denmark remains committed to unlocking new opportunities, empowering citizens, and advancing a sustainable digital future for Denmark and Europe.
